A roller is all or nothing: up or down. A venetian tilts. Angle the slats and you throw the hard afternoon glare up at the ceiling while you keep the room open and the air moving. By two o’clock in January, when a west window turns a room into an oven, that control is the whole game.
They’re a slim aluminium slat, so they don’t swell or warp in the heat the way a timber-look can, and they don’t hold the dust the way fabric does.

Dust off the paddocks and the pits settles on everything. A damp cloth along the slats and they’re done, no dry-cleaning a fabric or vacuuming a pleat.

Where we’d fit them, and where we wouldn’t
Venetians are our first suggestion for west-facing living rooms, kitchens, laundries, sunrooms and any window that takes the dust. They’re honest value for a room that has to work hard.
Where they’re not the answer is a serious day-sleep bedroom. A venetian never goes fully dark, light comes through between the slats, so for a shift worker’s bedroom we’ll steer you to a blockout roller instead. If a room needs both, cooling in the day and dark for sleep, we’ll talk about pairing them.
